Drupal inside out: a different introduction to Drupal
SabineM — 7. April 2009 - 16:20
Drupal has a comfortable surface, but this often hides the processes that take place inside Drupal.
This presentation concetrates on the core of Drupal and examines how different key concepts of Drupal play out there.
The inside of the Drupal place is just the place to look for its logic and consistency which is often hard to grasp if you get distracted by the surface and too many modules.
Understanding this logic makes it easy to start with module development. (The presentation includes an easy beginner module, that I build according to Van Dyks instructions)
The following key concepts of Drupal core will be covered:
1. data
2. permission system
3. menu system
4. addons: Hooks and Modules
5. Internatinalization
I am a big fan of van Dyks book that inspired this presentation a great deal.
This presentation is for people: beginners and advanced Drupal developpers who enjoy books and like this and like to grasp the more technical features behind Drupal.
